At Ferny Grove State School, we understand the unique challenges faced by Australian Defence Force families, including relocations and periods of parental absence due to service commitments. Through our Defence School Mentor (DSM) Program, we provide additional social and emotional support to help Defence students feel connected, supported and valued within our school community.
Our Defence School Mentors assist with welcoming new families, supporting students during deployments, running lunchtime programs that build friendships and belonging, and helping students prepare for transitions to new schools and postings. We also offer a dedicated Facebook group for Defence families to share information, support and resources.
